Eleventh Heart of Europe Bio-Crystallography Meeting, "HEC-11"
25. — 27. September 2008 Greifswald, Germany

We kindly welcome you to the HEC-Meeting in Greifswald. The Molecular Structural Biology Group at the Institute for Biochemistry of the local university will be hosting “HEC-11”, the 11^th Heart of Europe Bio-Crystallography Meeting. The scope of this international conference is to bring together the young generation of European researchers to share their experience with the invited experts in macromolecular crystallography.

Macromolecular crystallography is a rapidly expanding field within the life sciences, providing vital details of the structure and function of biological macromolecules.

The scientific sessions of the three-day conference will consist of an invited lecture from an eminent scientist and lectures from young research scholars. It is the important task of HEC meetings to encourage young researchers to present and share their achievements and difficulties. This is the major difference to common scientific meetings. Already, 10 years of HEC meetings have shown that this is a good way to promote our science!

The HEC-11 meeting would not be possible without generous financial support by several companies and organizations. Again, the International Union of Crystallography sponsored the HEC Prize for the best presentation.

This year the HEC-lecture is supported by the “Gesellschaft für Biochemie und Molekularbiologie e.V.”. The invited special guest is Prof. Dr. Poul Nissen, Department of Molecular Biology, University of Aarhus, Denmark.
